EDP#15
EDP5Y anniversary show in Rotterdam
Queensnight 29 April 2013
April 29th has always been a special date for Electric Deluxe Presents. Not only is it Queensday—Holland’s biggest and best national holiday—it is also EDP’s birthday, having launched in spectacular style five years ago now with Richie Hawtin at Melkweg, Amsterdam, back in 2008. There have been many EDP highlights since with a rich spread of names gracing line-ups along the way.
Outside our regular Melkweg slot, we’ve hosted satellite nights in Rotterdam (Watt, Catwalk), Nijmegen (Doornroosje) and Utrecht (Poema), and held showcases at some of Holland’s leading techno festivals, including a sold out Mysteryland in 2010, Lowlands and Amsterdam Dance Event—last year becoming ADE’s official afterhour station with an ambitious back-to-back string of parties.
In 2011 EDP made its Berghain debut with an all label-roster showcase, stretching out to London and Lausanne the following April with its Four Year Anniversary Weekender. 2012 saw our first US stopover with EDLX artists Brendon Moeller and Jeff Derringer warming up Detroit revellers for Movement, together with an outing at Antiguo Carnival in Columbia that made this our biggest year yet.
Which is why we’re bringing things home for our fifth anniversary, teaming up with Rotterdam promoters Nachtduik to deliver a 40-name strong total blow out this coming Queensday at the impressive riverside industrial venue Maassilo. From our end we’re promising another trademark elongated set from EDLX honcho Speedy J together with his Collabs partner, the incomparable Chris Liebing. We’re also bringing our Italian representative along, the master of trancy trippy techno, Mr Giorgio Gigli. See you there ravers!
