EDP#6

British invasion at EDP#6
The dust of the Electric Deluxe Queensday edition has just settled, but techno fans better get ready for another edition of Electric Deluxe on Ascension Day. The best techno party of Holland returns to the Amsterdam Melkweg (Milky Way) on Thursday the 21st of may.
Electric Deluxe presents #6 will have a strong emphasis on British techno, with dj’s like Luke Slater, Mark Broom and a special live appearance of Claro Intelecto. But there’s also a bulky delegation being flown in from Berlin. Both Ben Klock and (Canadian born) Konrad Black will arrive from the east.

If dark, ominous techno is your thing, then Ben Klock is your man. He’ll be killing the floor in the final hours of EDL#6 with his relentless beats and flawless mixing skills. Not only is Klock resident at the Berlin techno Valhalla Berghain, he also runs his own imprint Klockworks on which four fantastic singles saw the light of day till now. And did we mention his stunning debut album ‘One’ for Ostgut Ton?

Earlier in the evening Konrad Black will crash test the bass bins of Melkweg with his spooky and bass heavy techno records. Like so many of his Canadian techno colleagues Black lives in Berlin nowadays, where he runs the record label Wagon Repair on which he releases one five star techno record after another. He recently delivered a stunning mix album for the famous technoclub Watergate.

Back to England: One highlight of this Ascension Day edition of EDP#6 will undoubtedly be the live gig by British wonderboy Claro Intelecto. Known for his crystal clear and dubby techno productions, Mark Stewart understands the power of a decent four/four beat like no other.

The Max, main room of Melkweg, will see host Speedy J being sandwiched between two British DJs: Mark Broom en Luke Slater. Both are old school when it comes to techno. They’ve been making beats since ’92.
Broom paved the way for countless techno talents with his long running Pure Plastic-label. Not to mention some seriously energetic remixes he did over the years. Meanwhile Luke Slater was going from strength to strength on the famous Mute label (Depeche Mode, Moby, Speedy J).
In June the respected DJ and producer will break the silence that lasted since his mix-CD Fabric 32 (2007) with a new Planetary Assault Systems album, to be released on the Berlin Ostgut Ton label. Linking London to Berlin and thus completing the circle on this sixth edition of Electric Deluxe. It’s pretty clear: on Ascension Day you’ll find heaven in the centre of Amsterdam.
