Electric Deluxe Birthday Bash in Rotterdam

With a line up that includes Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola and Berghain hotshot Len Faki, Electric Deluxe will seriously test the foundations of club Watt in Rotterdam on the 29th of April.

A quick glance in the agenda teaches us we’re talking Wednesday here. Wednesday? It so happens to be the night before Queensday. On that orange coloured holiday the whole country comes to a grinding halt and everyone goes out to party.

Electric Deluxe has it’s own birthday party on the 29th, since it’s exactly one year ago the party organization around Speedy J’s label with the same name kicked off their strong series of techno parties in Melkweg.

But birthday parties are best given at home, according to Speedy J. “I wanted to return to my hometown Rotterdam with a bang and I think this line up will do the trick just nicely”.
He’s right. It’s been years since the names of Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Chris Liebling & Len Faki were printed together on any flyer from Rotterdam. Mix in some local techno talents Boris Ross, Joey Daniel en Perry and you can rest assured the fifth edition of Electric Deluxe is gonna be an unforgettable all-nighter in Watt.

Richie Hawtin hardly needs any introduction. The engine behind M_nus brought minimal techno to the masses and he still pioneers on many fronts. Last year Hawtin was one of the first techno DJs who said a definite goodbye to the turntable. He now solely relies on cutting edge software and midi-controlers for his impeccable mixes.

It’s just a small step from M_nus to Marco Carola. The Napolitan DJ & producer recently released his new The Tribe on 2M, which happens to be a sublabel of Hawtin, run by Carola. It’s been a while since the techno-don rocked Rotterdam and he promises it’s gonna be a rewarding return.

If you say Berghain, you can’t go around Len Faki. He’s been a resident for years in the Berlin techno Valhalla near Ostbahnhof. Two years back Faki peaked with “Rainbow Delta”, a dark and brooding techno track that smells like a walk in the rain forest with headphones on. His DJ sets are known for it’s energy and magic.

Oh, and did we tell you about the home match host Speedy J is playing with his regular sparring partner Chris Liebling? Knock-outs on the dancefloor guaranteed!
