EDP#4
We are proud and more than excited to announce EDP#4.
Last time is still vibrating, Radioslave, Marcel Dettmann, Pan Pot, Nathan Fake and Boris Ross left their footprint, Speedy J took it even further and beamed the crowd into a new Dimension during his 5 hour set. Goosebumps.
So let’s do it again, shall we? This installment will have some very special guests indeed:
Tim Nieburg will have the honor to open the night in style for the host in the main room. Amsterdam promoter of fine taste and Delsin pr person, spinning at the level of the people he books for his parties: Redshape , Rolando, Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Robert Hood to name just a few…
Next will be your host, Jochem Paap aka Speedy J. His musical vision is genre blurring, creative freedom at the highest level of innovation and quality. His Label Electric Deluxe and events series Electric Deluxe Presents… are platforms for artists, operating within any conceivable genre in the broad spectrum of techno, who wish to fully explore and embrace the ever-expanding technological possibilities.
Behind the digital decks Speedy J has brought back the innovative spirit which was once at home in this genre, adopting and expanding upon digital DJing. In this way he has opened up an infinite resource, improvising with the widest array of sounds, introducing the concept of creating DJ sets and Productions with parts’. His current project Open Collabs is a public collaboration of epic proportions that builds a community, which will result in a conceptual album in 2009, while he continues to release club hit EPs with friends like Chris Liebing, George Issakids and…
Adam Beyer. Synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, represented by his imprints Drumcode, Truesoul and Mad Eye, but also found on labels like Wagon Repair, Cocoon, and Fabric. Known globally for his more punishing, looped up techno mastery, Beyer infused his more stripped down productions into the flow of his deck manipulation in the recent years. More than ever, he’s respected as one of the biggest and most influential producer/DJs on the planet.
On the Oude Zall floor, David Labeij will start the night with his dubby laid back sound. He’s associated with Remote Area, musically rooted in Chicago and early New York House, mixed in with Detroit Elements. As a promoter of the infamous Amsterdam Berlin Underground Nights, and today as Polder together with Lauhaus, he made quite some waves well beyond The Netherlands, being paralleled with current Cecile / Oslo phenomena by international Press.
Up next are Deadbeat feat. Tikiman. They had to meet inevitably, as the innovator eventually meets the legend. Both infused with similar inspirations, Scott Frederick Monteith and Paul St. Hilaire met for having a love for the Dub and the Reggae, while seeking to put it in new electronic contexts. Deadbeat found his way through Jeff Milligan’s Revolver Canada, Mutek, Wagon Repair, Cynosure, and Scape to Berlin, and as one of his many projects started producing with Monolake. It might have been that Hardwax connection that brought him together with one of the main vocal protagonists of imprints like Mainstreet, Burial Mix or Rhythm & Sound, Tikiman.
Finally, Raudive aka Oliver Ho is on. He started Blueprint Records more than 10 years ago, with his productions ranging from deep tribal sounds to dark abstract noise to funkier house – all these aspects of his musical persona are now distilled down into his current project Raudive, releasing highly influential tracks on labels like Drumcode, Poker Flat, We Are, Music Man and Klang.
Joseph Capriati will close the night on the Oude Zaal floor. He started out popular underground radio host, turned hit producer is one of the promising new artists out of Italy with his innovative funky, shuffle-y techno sound with minimal grooves. DJs like Richie Hawtin, Speedy J, Magda, Paco Osuna, or Davide Squillace turned his tracks from secret weapons into global hits.
